Ethel Arlene Rowe Green

AUBURN – Ethel Green went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 3, 2021.

The youngest of 16 children born to Charles and Madge Rowe. After losing her mother at the age of 11 she moved in her with sister Marjorie and attended Maine Central Institute for her high school years graduating in 1955. Upon graduation she attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy Mass., majoring in education. There she met Donald Green who would become her husband for the next 60 years. Together they entered the ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. They pastored eight churches in three states while raising three daughters.

Her passions focused on teaching, writing and gardening. She taught in both private and Christian schools while assisting her husband in Christian ministry. She loved to study her bible and teach what she learned to others. She taught many Sunday School lessons during her lifetime. She is the author of two published books: “Genesis, God Said It…” published in 2015 and “Jesus Said it, A March through Mark” published in 2019.

She is survived by her three daughters, Marian Veld of Arlington, Va., Brenda Getchell and her husband Timothy of Minot, and Darlene Conant and her husband Christopher of Auburn; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Green; and grandson, Eric Edwards.

A memorial service will be held at Mechanic Falls Church of the Nazarene at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 15. A graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanic Falls at a later date.
