Jeannette J. (Pare) Letourneau

LEWISTON – Jeannette J. Pare Letourneau, 87, made her heavenly journey home on March 22, 2021. Jeannette was born September 11, 1933 in Lewiston to the late Florian and Albia Pare. She was the oldest of seven children. Eleven years after marrying the love of her life, Robert, the two moved their family of five to Connecticut where they resided for the next 55 years. Living in Coventry, Jeannette worked as a custodian for UCONN for fifteen years before retiring in 1993. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Memere. Jeannette was very talented in crochet. She loved picking vegetables from the huge garden that she and her husband planted year after year. She loved to can tomatoes, pickles, and beets fresh from the garden. Jeannette loved camping both in Maine and Rhode Island. She loved the ocean, the beach, and of course lobsters and clams. She had a heart of gold. Her door was always open and a meal waiting, where you were hungry or not. Her spaghetti sauce and soups were among the most amazing things you could ever taste and there was always a plethora of homemade sweets. Jeannette was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Viens and son Michael Letourneau in 2017, as well as her loving husband of 66 years, Robert in 2018. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Patrick and her husband Phil of Marion, IL, her daughter in law Nicolette Letourneau, surviving spouse of Michael of Hampton, CT, her siblings Florian Pare Jr. and his wife Angela of ME, Lorraine Barbay of IA, Sonia Rodrigue of Auburn, ME, Norman Letourneau and his wife Jackie of ME, Rena Boudreault of Lewiston, ME and Sandra Rodrigue and her husband Nelson of Lewiston, ME. Five grandchildren, Alicia Smith and her life partner Scott Varrieur of Eastford, CT, Allen Smith of Canal Winchester, OH, Amy Stewart of Windham, CT, Adam Smith and his wife Ashlee of Ashford, CT and Angela DuPont and her husband Dylan of Albemarle, NC, four great-grandchildren, James DeVoe of Coventry, CT, Austin Varrieur of Eastford, CT, and Ethan and Elizabeth Smith of Ashford, CT, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeannette will live on in all our hearts through the wonderful memories we all share of her. Services will be held in Lewiston, Maine with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannette’s name to either the American Red Cross in support of their blood drives or to the MDS Foundation in support of those battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
