To the Editor:

My name is Kristin Roy, I am an elected official representing the town of Otisfield on the MSAD-17 School Board. I have grave concerns about how the lack of cell phone coverage affects our students, their families, and the public at large.

I discussed this issue with our Superintendent Mr. Colpitts and our Board Chair Mrs. Olson. They were aware of my concerns and the fact that I was planning on speaking out for Otisfield’s students at the Otisfield Planning Board public hearing on March 23. I made myself clear when I stated, I was not speaking on behalf of the School Board.

Being a public representative confers rights on me as an interested party. These rights were not afforded to me by the Planning Board at the Public Hearing.

I don’t understand why following the law and working in the interests of our students, their families and every other resident of Otisfield is so threatening to our town government.
