Jeanne P. Heath

RYE, N.H. – Jeanne P. Heath, 87, formerly of Middle Road in Portsmouth, N.H., passed away peacefully Monday March 29, 2021.

She was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Rumford.

After graduating from Portsmouth High, Jeanne attended the University of New Hampshire where she earned a Bachelor’s in Foreign Language. She was also active in the UNH Greek system as a member of the Phi Mu sorority.

Jeanne worked for several years at a local insurance agency in Portsmouth, but her favorite job was working as the Newington Town Clerk. As a longtime Newington resident, she proudly held that position for many years, serving the local residents. She served her country as part of the Naval reserves.

She had a variety of hobbies over the years. She loved gardening and had a large and bountiful vegetable garden, as well as flower gardens and fruit trees. She practiced Tai Chi, played volleyball regularly and tried her hand at beekeeping for several years. Jeanne loved to travel and was a voracious reader. For many years, she taught English as a second language.

Jeanne was predeceased by Warren Heath of Newington, N.H.

Survivors include children, Roger Heath of Newington, David Heath and wife Debra of West Chester, Pa., Catherine Moore of Goffstown, and Daniel Heath and wife Ruth of Salem; and grandchildren, Brian Heath and wife Katie, Brittany Heath, Brandon Heath and wife Rachel, Marissa Reed, Tess Moore, Samantha Moore, Nicole Heath, and Marques Swift, and great-grandchildren Ava Moore and Reagan Heath.

Services: A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the Newington Cemetery, Nimble Hill Road, Newington, N.H. The family will welcome friends to join them at the New Town Hall in Newington immediately following the graveside service for a reception in Jeanne’s memory.
