To the Editor:
We are writing today to encourage our fellow Woodstock residents to join us in support of efforts to purchase and preserve the 640 parcel of land commonly known as Bucks Ledge.
We will all have the opportunity at the annual town meeting, on April 26th, to cast votes in favor of authorization to use designated conservation funds, in the amount of $80,000.00, to support this cause. Additional funding to come from grant applications and fundraising projects.
This is vital first step in our efforts to purchase and preserve this beautiful and dominant piece of property and ensure that it may be enjoyed by hikers, snowmobilers, hunters and other nature enthusiasts for generations to come. Additionally it will provide an abundance of educational opportunities for our district’s students as they attend Woodstock Elementary School and the Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center.
Venture out and see this beautiful piece of property for yourselves. The established trail begins north of the public spring on Route 26 with adequate parking. Join the 592 individuals who signed in and hiked this trail last year!
See you at town Meeting? We hope so!

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
