Lewiston grocer Leon Ward, who died last week, has been honored by customers and staff on a makeshift memorial outside Ward's Neighborhood Market on Pine Street, while his family and friends plan a more permanent tribute.
A customer walks Wednesday afternoon into Wards Neighborhood Market on Pine Street where people have been leaving flowers, candles, photos and other items outside on the sidewalk, in addition to adding personal messages in memory of Leon Ward, the beloved grocer who died suddenly last week. His family and friends living above the store planned to take down the display Wednesday night and create some sort of a memorial to remember Ward and his contributions to the community.
