Elaine Tweworgy Jacques

AUBURN – It is with immense sadness that the family of Elaine Treworgy Jacques announce her passing on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the age of 72. A loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she enriched the lives of many people and will be forever missed.

Elaine Nina Treworgy was born on April 27, 1948 in Augusta to Robert and Barbara Treworgy. She became the oldest of four children; followed by Paul, Scott, and Jane Treworgy. Elaine had an idyllic childhood growing up in Calais. She loved spending time at “Shangri-La”, her family’s camp on grand Lake Stream. Elaine attended Callas High School before transferring her junior year to Gould Academy in Bethel.

She especially cherished her time at Gould where she became cheerleading captain and was voted Winter Carnival Queen. She graduated in 1966 and enrolled at Vermont College, but soon transferred to Colby College in Waterville where again she was voted Winter Carnival Queen and graduated as a Dana Scholar, with a B.A. in psychology.

Elaine taught special education in the Waterford school district in Connecticut before relocating to Machias where she and her then husband became successful business owners of a pharmacy and home health care business. Elaine was dedicated to the business and serving the healthcare needs of the community.

Elaine retired to Auburn with her beloved partner of 18 years, Richard Paine, with whom she first became acquainted at Gould Academy and sadly lost in November, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Elaine is also predeceased by her sister, Jane Treworgy, with whom she shared a special bond; and parents Robert and Barbara Treworgy.

Elaine is survived by her only daughter, Jennifer Jacques; twin granddaughters Reese and Raquel Jacques; brothers Paul and Scott Treworgy; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by Richard Paine’s family with whom she was close.

Elaine was what we should all aspire to be, described as an angel or a saint by many.

Arrangements are being made by the Albert- Burpee funeral home at 253 Pine St. in Lewiston. A small family celebration of life will be held in the summer at the burial site in Hallowell, next to both of her parents.
