Keith A. Savage Sr.
BRYANT POND – Keith A. Savage Sr., 59, of Bryant Pond passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born May 18, 1961 in Rumford, the son of Gary Ross Sr. and Sandra (Blay) Savage.
Keith graduated from Telstar High School and then enlisted with the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Impervious (mine sweeper) during the Grenada Invasion and Lebanon War.
On Sept. 10, 1985 he married the love of his life, Penny Kimball. They spent 35 happy years together, living their last three years together in their dream home they built on North Pond. Together they raised two sons of which he was extremely proud of.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went to work at Oxford Homes and then at the Rumford Paper Mill for several years. He also operated a septic business and automotive service garage . During his later years when he was unable to work, he helped his sons build and operate their company, Savage Auto in Bethel.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #68.
Keith had a big love for family, friends and old cars, for which he had many.
He enjoyed spending countless hours at his sons garage and was known as the face of Savage Auto. He had many nicknames: “Kemo”..”BK” aka (big Keith)..”Grampa”..”Grampa Keith” and one of his favorites from his many nieces and nephews was “Uncle Fun”.
His five grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will surely be missed by all that knew him.
Keith is survived by his wife, Penny Savage; his mother, Sandra Savage; two sons Allen Savage and wife Kathleen, and Keith Savage Jr. and wife Alyssa; five grandchildren Bryan, Alanah, Emily, Keegan, and Summer; six siblings Gary Savage Jr., Nancy Gionet and husband Mike, Rick Savage and wife Melissa, Ron Savage and wife Cindy, Kelly Helms and husband Andy, and Jessica Boyd; many aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Gary R. Savage Sr.; and his beloved dog, Max, that passed only 12 hours before him.
A Celebration of Life/funeral will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 3 p.m. Service will be outside at the Sunday River Brewing Company, 29 Sunday River Rd., in Bethel.
Arrangements are with Chandler Funeral Home, 37 Vernon St., Bethel.
