Sandra Marie (Burgess) Oliver
AUBURN – Sandra Marie (Burgess) Oliver, 76, of Lewiston, Maine passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Hospice House in Auburn on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Sandra was born on Oct. 6, 1944, the daughter of Mildred (Jacobs) and Lloyd Burgess. She married her loving husband, Robert Oliver on April 16, 1966 at East Auburn Baptist Church. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary.
She grew up in East Auburn graduating from Edward Little High School class of 1962 and was an active member of her community. She was a member of the East Auburn Baptist Church, Gem Bowling League, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of East Auburn’s Men’s Club, and looked forward to the community’s annual “Little World’s Fair”.
Sandra was a bookkeeper throughout her working years. She was also a hospice volunteer for Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice for 14 years bringing joy and comfort to those she visited.
Sandra loved her family and enjoyed years of watching her brothers play softball for the East Auburn Lakers. She enjoyed playing cribbage, however, she was also very competitive. She looked forward to family get-togethers like the yearly “fish fry” at Bear Pond and holiday parties. Growing up on Lake Auburn she developed a love of fishing. Later in life she would fish with her husband and in-law, Marcel Lafrance. But the greatest joy was being with her grandchildren, Amber, Luke and Trevor. She was a loving “Mimi” that spent time playing and laughing with them. These children will always have fond memories of the time they spent together.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Oliver of Lewiston; daughter Karen Lafrance and her husband, David and their children, Amber, Luke and Trevor of Greene. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Betty Thayer; her brothers, Lloyd Jr., Glen, Arnold; and son, Keith Oliver.
Funeral service will be held at East Auburn Baptist Church on May 5, at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of The Fortin Group 217 Turner St. Auburn. Please visit http://www.thefortingroupauburn.com to leave heart felt messages to Sandra’s family and friends.
