Doris Albert

LEWISTON -Doris A. Albert, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 7, 2021.

She was born on May 28, 1935, in Lewiston. She was the tenth child of Ida and William Walton Sr.

Doris was educated in Lewiston Schools, graduated in 1953 from Lewiston High school.

She was married to Anthony Albert, just shy of 65 years.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was referred to as Nana by most, and known for her famous Toll-House cookie recipe. Doris enjoyed dancing, baking, singing, and the occasional visit to the casino. Doris and her husband Tony traveled all over the country, stopping at their favorite casinos on the way. Her M & M cookies are well remembered by her children’s friends because they were so delicious. The children were able to trade one cookie for an entire lunch or multiples of store bought desserts.

She worked for St. Joseph’s School in Lewiston for many years as a school cafeteria worker. She was a member of Queen Ann’s Guild Sodality, a volunteer at St. Martin DePorres and a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish.

She is survived by her children Mary Ann Morency and her husband Michael, Sharon Dube and her husband Mark, James Albert, Scott Albert and his wife Lisa; her grandchildren Jennifer Whitehead and her husband Elijah, Seth Dube and his wife Jill, Brent Clark, Brian Morency, Scotty Albert, Deanna Morency, Amy Albert, and Tessa Albert; as well as her eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Vance Bacon, sister-in-law Constance Abbott, and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her three brothers William, Frank, and Leo Walton; and her six sisters Mary Nichols, Carolyn Atwood, Nellie Walton, Veronica Malia, Patricia McCollough, and Constance Bacon. Her son John Albert, grandson Adam Clark, and her daughter-in-law Karen Albert.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Doris’ caregivers Mary Jane Wellington, Anita Chase, and all the staff at Helping Hands.

Private services will be held for Doris and committal prayers will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn at a later date.
