CAMDEN — The Stewardship Education Alliance Fair in the Amphitheatre on Atlantic Avenue, hosted by Camden Public Library, is to be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 4. People can meet representatives from 16 local nonprofits that support responsible stewardship of the environment.

This family-friendly event will offer activities including a mobile marine tank, story time with librarian Miss Amy, and drawings for free sailing trips and other great prizes from local businesses.

Organizations with booths include Coastal Mountains Land Trust, Gulf of Maine Research Institute, Herring Gut Learning Center, Hurricane Island Center for Science & Leadership, Knox-Lincoln County Soil & Water Conservation District, Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries, Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, & Forestry, Maine Environmental Education Association, Megunticook Watershed Association, Merryspring Nature Center, Natural Resources Council of Maine, Oceanswide, Sea Grant, Stewardship Education Alliance, Watershed School, and Wild Seed Project.

Attendees can enter free drawings to win prizes like a kayak trip in Camden Harbor, donated by Maine Sport Outfitters; day sails aboard the Schooners Appledore and Surprise; a trip with Camden Harbor Cruises; and an overnight adventure aboard the Schooner Mary Day.

The alliance works to increase community stewardship of its local watersheds. The organization furthers its mission by awarding grants to teachers in public and private schools and afterschool programs in Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport, and by hosting community events.
