YARMOUTH — Ian Libby and Mike Sweeney had three hits and two RBIs each to power 16th-seeded Gray-New Gloucester to a 6-4 upset of top-seeded Yarmouth in the Class B South baseball playoffs Tuesday.

Zach Winchester added a two-run double for the Patriots (3-14), and Connor Saunders had an RBI single. Wyatt Kenney pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and four runs, striking out four.

LISBON 11, MADISON 1: The fourth-seeded Greyhounds (11-2) came out of the gates slowly but turned it on in the third inning to defeat the 13th-seeded Bulldogs (2-7) in the Class C South quarterfinals in Lisbon.

Hunter Brissette earned two hits for Lisbon (11-2), including a triple, and also struck out 10 batters in five innings on the mound to earn the win. Neil Larochelle, Levi Tibbetts and Riley Turner each notched a double for Lisbon.

Madison’s (2-7) Aiden Ostigvy notched a triple and scored on a throwing error for the Bulldogs’ only run.

DIRIGO 9, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 3: The eighth-seeded Cougars (8-4) tallied nine runs on just four hits to take down the ninth-seeded Seagulls (8-9) in Dixfield.

Dallas Berry and Trenton Hutchinson both doubled for Dirigo, with Hutchinson’s fourth-inning two-bagger proving to be the game-winner. Hutchinson and Cole Brown teamed up on the mound for the Cougars and held the Seagulls to three runs.

Gavin Sperlich tabulated two hits and drove in a run for Old Orchard Beach.

MONMOUTH 9, TRAIP 3: The Mustangs (13-3) scored six runs in the fourth inning to break a tie and take down the Rangers (2-15) in Monmouth to advance to the second round of the Class C South playoffs.

The game was tied 2-2 heading into the fourth, before Monmouth plated the six runs.

Hunter Frost tallied a triple and Hayden Fletcher notched a double for the Mustangs. Cam Armstrong pitched six innings to earn the victory on the mound.

Cam Maes had a double for Traip.

MT. ABRAM 9, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: The No. 3 Roadrunners (13-3) spread out their runs throughout the game to hammer away at No. 14 Phoenix (1-6)  and win a Class C South opening round playoff game in Salem.

Ben Debiase notched four hits for Mt. Abram and scored three runs. He also pitched an inning and struck out two batters. Trevor Phelps pitched five innings and gave up just one run and struck out 10 in the win. Phelps also hit a home run in the fourth inning.

Spruce Mountain’s Isaac Parker struck out six in the loss.

SOFTBALL
EDWARD LITTLE 10, BREWER 1: The 10th-seeded Red Eddies pulled off an upset win over the seventh-seeded Witches in a Class A North quarterfinal in Brewer.

Leah Thibodeau, Hannah Smith, Maddie Emmert and Courtney Larson each had a double for Edward Little. The Eddies opened the game with three runs in the top of the third inning. Maddy Scott pitched a complete game with six strikeouts while allowing five hits.

Brewer’s Josie Pece hit a home run in the sixth inning and also had a single.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 8, ERSKINE 0: The No. 5 Patriots (13-4) shut out the No. 12 Eagles (3-9) in Gray to advance out of the first round of the Class B South softball playoffs.

Maisie Lerette hit two singles and a double and stole four bases in the win for Gray-New Gloucester. Amelia Cobb earned a single and a double in the win. In the circle, Madison Pelletier gave up just three hits and struck out four.

Hannah Huff gave up eight hits from the circle and notched a double at the plate for Erskine Academy.

MADISON 7, MT. ABRAM 0: Hailey Paquet tripled and Lilian Levesque went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs in a Class C South first-round game in Madison.

Brooke McKenney turned in another dominant performance in the circle, striking out 18 and allowing just three hits. She didn’t walk a batter.

Jersey Tewsbury went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Landyn Landry had three hits for Madison as well.

MONMOUTH 12, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 4: The third-seeded Mustangs (11-0) defeated the 14th-seeded Seagulls (1-12) in the Class C South quarterfinals in Monmouth.

Abby Flanagan, Katie Laliberte and Erin Gosselin each notched a double for Monmouth Academy in the win. Brooklyn Federico earned the win from the circle.

Old Orchard Beach’s Summer St. Louis took the loss from the circle but notched a triple at the plate and had three total hits.

NYA 15, RANGELEY 3: The Panthers (8-8) advance to the D South quarterfinal against No. 2 Valley with a win over the Lakers (6-3) in Yarmouth.

Acadia Gee picked up the win in the circle while recording a base hit and a double at the plate for NYA. Eliza Chase, Lauren Powers and McKayla Wallace each tallied multiple hits, with Chase knocking a double.

SACOPEE VALLEY 7, OAK HILL 4: Kiera Green’s three hits led the Hawks (10-6) to a playoff win over the Raiders (2-8) in Hiram.

Green tallied one double on the day. Lakynn Hink, Lindsay Fox and Abby Sanbord each had two base hits, and Elise Guptill collected the win in the circle.

Sacopee Valley will face No. 3 Monmouth Academy on Thursday in the C South quarterfinals.

BOYS LACROSSE
OXFORD HILLS 15, BANGOR 8: The fourth-seeded Vikings (5-4) took down the fifth-seeded Rams (0-2) in the Class A North quarterfinals in Paris.

Oxford Hills’ Derrick Brooks tallied six goals to lead all scorers. Jacob Mondor contributed four goals, Ryan Coolidge added two, and Nick Bancroft, Dean Sinkler and Mario Devivo each scored a goal each. Vikings goalie Troy Edmunds stopped 11 shots.

Bangor was paced by Griffon Web’s four goals, while Ethan Danerchank finished with two and Jeremy Lyon and Mills Radol scored one apiece. Cason Mukevich saved 10 shots in the loss.
