Bruce Zenon Pinette

LEWISTON – Bruce Zenon Pinette, (affectionately known as “Bubba”), born Oct. 7, 1933, passed away Monday July 5, 2021, at D’Youville Pavillion Nursing Home after a long illness.

He was son of Joseph Zenon and Margaret Elizabeth (Moore) Pinette. He was a longtime resident of Main Street, Lewiston and most recently Greene. Bruce graduated from Lewiston High School in 1951, attended both MCI Prep and UMO. He was married to the love of his life Elaine Pinette for nearly 60 years until her untimely death in 2015. He proudly served his country in Korea as a Sergeant First Class.

Once out of the service he worked in the family business, Joseph Pinette and Sons, Exc and took over the business when his father retired until his own retirement in 1993. He then earned certifications in Fitness and Kinesiology and taught fitness/exercise to the “old Folks” at Montello Heights and Clover Manor.

Bruce was well known in the community not only for his construction business but for his involvement and love of local Youth Sports, including baseball, fly football, bowling leagues, hockey, and karate; also earning himself a black belt in the latter. He and Elaine were well loved for traveling the northeast and Canada with his renowned green and yellow Hockey Team. The love and respect were reciprocated by these young men. They also traveled the country supporting their sons Michael and Jon in karate tournaments as well as being Number One fans at their grandson’s sporting events. His yard was always open as a practice venue for local sport teams.

Bruce served on the Lewiston Housing Authority in the ’70s, was a Shriner, very active in Little Theater in his younger years, and a member of Calvary Methodist Church.

Besides his love for his family, Bruce loved traveling with his wife to many islands, across the U.S. as well as Hawaii, on cruises, and just being host and hostess to many gatherings of both family and friends under their large tent and by the pool. He loved people and always had a joke to tell. He was the role model of a proud family man. The family would like to especially thank his current at home caregiver, Sherry, from Helping Hands. She paid careful attention to all his special needs and treated him with dignity and respect.

This last patriarch of the family is survived by his daughter, June and husband Robert Richard of Lewiston, sons Michael of Green and Jon and his companion Lauren Caudill of Gorham; grandson, Christopher Richard and partner Stacey Swan of Durham, Nick Richard and wife Jessica of Lewiston, Tyler Richard and wife Kaitlyn of Gray, grandchildren Olivia, Gavin, Owen, and Sydney Elaine, Baby Hudson Richard due in September; sister, Diane Prock of Oklahoma, sister, Susan Leeman and husband David of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine; both parents; two sisters Barbara Caron and Joanne Pinette; and granddaughter-in-law Amy Richard.
