LEWISTON — A grease fire in a second floor apartment at 158 Pine St. forced the evacuation of the building Saturday night and at least one person needed to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Multiple people were evacuated from the building, which sits in the block between Shawmut and Howe streets.

According to one Lewiston Fire Department official, multiple ambulances responded to offer medical treatment to evacuees. City police officers directed traffic at the corner of Pine and Howe streets.

The building is one of several owned by Joe Dunne in the downtown area, according to city tax records.

A fire official said that an inspector was expected to visit the scene Saturday night, but further details were not available.
