A cold front approaches Maine from the west today and could bring showers and storms to New Hampshire and western Maine, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong or severe thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon or evening, according to the NWS.

High temperatures are expected to stay in the low 70s Wednesday. But forecasts have temperatures Thursday and Friday in the 80s. Friday’s high in Lewiston is expected to be 88. Temperatures will cool down into the 60s both nights.

The warm and humid air later this week means there will be more chances of showers and thunderstorms by Saturday,  according to the NWS.
