Caleb Roebuck

LEWISTON — Caleb Roebuck, a brewery associate and longtime community organizer, has declared his candidacy for the City Council to represent Ward 2.

Roebuck said he has spent many years organizing in Lewiston and across the state where he has spoken with people who shared the same concerns: their elected officials ignored real issues and were not accessible or responsive. These concerns helped inspire him to run for office with the goal of being available and open to all constituents so the issues facing everyone in Lewiston can be dealt with, he said.

His policies will also focus on improving education, the developing economy, and making an equitable Lewiston for all its people, he said.

“Ever since I arrived in Lewiston, I’ve seen so many acts of kindness from people toward complete strangers, including myself,” Roebuck said. “As I’ve built relationships with community members it’s become increasingly obvious this is the kind of city Lewiston is. Unfortunately, that hasn’t always been represented by our elected officials.

“I hope to be able to bring the same compassion and kindness so many people here have shown to me so everyone in Ward 2 can be successful, get the help they need, and be listened to,” he said. “I look forward to showing the people of Ward 2 how hard I will work for them as their next city councilor.”

Roebuck grew up in Hancock County and received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental policy, law and society from Unity College and a master’s degree in environmental law and policy from Vermont Law School.
