Sandra J. Crossley

TURNER – Sandra J. Crossley of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Turner, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, Fla.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 9, 1937, the daughter of Stanley W. and Hazel (Maguire) Crossley. Raised in New Auburn, she attended Auburn schools. She graduated from Edward Little High School and then from Auburn Maine School of Commerce.

Following her graduation, she began her career as a legal secretary/assistant, working 55 years for the late Philip M. Isaacson of Isaacson and Raymond in Lewiston.

She was an avid gardener and her love of flowers was always evident through her gardens at her home. She was also well known for her holiday decorations, especially Christmas. She loved animals and was a great supporter of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society and the fur babies she raised during her lifetime. She served as secretary of the Maine Horse Association for 20 years, working at the various summer fairs held during the summer in Maine.

She loved the Boston Red Sox, and she also was a supporter of Community Little Theater enjoying the theater productions offered by them. She was a long-time member of the Sixth Street Congregational Church in Auburn, until her move to Florida in 2020.

Sandie is survived by her brother, Stephen Crossley, wife Susie of Port Orange, Fla. and his children, Kim Icenogle, husband Jeremy of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Tiana Eirby, husband Lee of Lewiston, and Christina Berry and partner Heather Leblanc of Daytona Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Leo Silvey of Kittery; and her niece, Catherine DeRosa, husband Kevin of Inverness, Fla.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Janice Crossley Silvey.

Her family wishes to extend thanks to Pam Craig, Elaine McDonald and Cathy Lee for their help and assistance to Sandie for the last several years, and a special thanks to Eleanor Douglas for her assistance during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, with burial at the Leeds Center Cemetery following the service.
