AUGUSTA — A Vassalboro man indicted on 14 criminal counts including domestic violence stalking and assaulting and terrorizing his ex-girlfriend also allegedly stole her father’s ashes and her pet geckos.
Edward B. Robinson, 40, was indicted recently by a grand jury in Kennebec County on 14 counts: domestic violence stalking, domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, harassment by telephone or electronic communication device, criminal mischief, four counts of burglary, two counts of theft, and three counts of violation of a protective order.
The domestic violence assault and terrorizing indictments allege Robinson caused bodily injury or offensive physical contact to a woman and also threatened her on April 28 in Vassalboro. The woman also alleged that between April 28 and May 12 he broke into her apartment, went to her workplace in Oakland, and went to her apartment where he left her a series of letters that caused her to suffer emotional distress, which resulted in the domestic violence stalking charge.
One of the theft counts against Robinson alleged he took her geckos, an urn containing the ashes of her father, and photographs, according to the indictment.
Robinson allegedly entered her Vassalboro apartment May 12 while she was staying elsewhere because, she told police, she was terrified of him and scared to stay at the apartment. When she returned, she told police she noticed her two geckos were missing and there was a stack of letters inside that were not there previously, which police said appeared to have been written by Robinson, according to an affidavit filed by Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Boudreau.
Robinson also told police, according to an affidavit, that he used the woman’s debit card to pay $100 via Facebook to a man for heroin.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt but indicates there is enough evidence to proceed toward trial.
