LEWISTON – Lloyd Leon Cushman passed away July 27, 2021 at the age of 88 at CMMC in Lewiston. He was born on Dec. 24, 1932 in Bryant Pond, Maine a son of Claude S. Cushman and Lena Hadley Cushman and attended Woodstock Schools graduating in 1951, with Honors.

He entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Upon returning home he entered Wentworth Institute of Technology, studying Architectural Engineering. He went to work for Harriman Associates of Auburn, Maine. He became a partner and treasurer until retiring in 1987. He became one of the first Certified Construction Specifiers in the state. He was instrumental in starting the Maine Chapter of CSI and was the second President of the chapter.

While at Harriman’s, he met and married Theresa Reed in 1957. They had three children, Deborah Nuccio, Susan Cushman and Kurt Cushman. He has four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, with many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents; wife, Theresa; brother Maynard Cushman and sister Ida Scherf. He has one living sister Geraldine Bright of Zephy Hills, Fla., and Maynard’s wife Dorothy Cushman of Bryant Pond, Maine.

Lloyd joined the Ancient York Lodge in Lisbon Falls in 1963. He joined the Kora Temple of Shriners. He became a Jester in the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a Life Member of the VFW, Post # 10178 of Englewood, Fla. In his later years was an active member of the Oquossoc ATV Club. He had many interests, such as woodworking, hunting, fishing, piloting his float plane, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, grooming trails in Oquossoc area and was a State Trail Inspector for many years. He and Terry traveled the country with wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona and Englewood, Fla.
