LOVELL — The Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library plans to continue its summer speaker series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, featuring Dr. Peter Ellison, a Lovell resident who will take a look at COVID-19 from an evolutionary perspective.
Ellison is the John Cowles Research Professor of Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University and a member of the National Academy of Sciences, according to a news release.
Thinking about pathogens as evolving organisms and about the factors that affect their evolution can help people to better understand COVID-19 and to think about the future of human epidemiology, according to Ellison.
This event will be held in person at the library , 227 Main St., Lovell, and simultaneously on Zoom.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
