LEWISTON —Androscoggin County Commissioner Noel Madore of Lewiston has submitted his resignation, saying he’s moving out of his district.
Madore, who represents District 1 on the seven-member board, was first elected to the county commission in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020. The Lewiston Democrat served as chairman of the commission in 2019.
At four-plus years, Madore was the second longest serving commissioner on the board, trailing only Chairwoman Sally Christner of Turner.
Androscoggin County Administrator Larry Post said the paperwork has already been filed with the leaders of the Lewiston Democratic Committee to begin the process to select an interim commissioner at a caucus within 30 days of the resignation.
The appointee will serve until the next general election in 2022. The person elected in 2022 will complete the final two years of Madore’s four-year term.
