BETHEL — Community Concepts is giving Bethel free Wifi in The Common, while keeping track of its monthly usage, according to a representative who came to the Bethel Board of Selectmen meeting on August 18. They are asking for nothing in return. They’ve received a grant for three years, giving them ownership of all equipment, and that equipment will be placed underneath the gazebo in The Common. The equipment can be turned over to Bethel after three-years.
Community Concepts is working with the Historical Society. Right now, the Historical Society’s Internet is running on fiber, and the representative said it would be switching it to cable. The connection would be wireless. Community Concepts said that if Town Office received any calls regarding the internet they could be directed to Community Concepts. Community Concepts said they were open to giving more Free Wifi, but only in public places.
The ARAP will be donating a bench to Bethel. Town manager Loretta Powers mentioned the bench might either go in front of Town Hall in front of the two planters in front of the steps, or as an extension of Davis Pathway.
