Mt. Blue athletic director Chad Brackett announced Sunday night that the varsity football game scheduled for Monday in Farmington between Mt. Blue and Cony has been canceled because of a number of close contacts on the Cougars football team.

The game with the Rams was originally scheduled for this past Friday night but was postponed to Monday because Mt. Blue’s field became unplayable after rain Thursday.

This becomes the third area game to be canceled in Week 2 because of the coronavirus after the Poland game with Bucksport was wiped out due to a positive case on the Golden Bucks roster. Leavitt’s game against Hermon was scrapped after Hermon went to remote learning due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Lisbon’s Week 2 game at Madison/Carrabec/Valley was originally postponed from Friday to Saturday, then ultimately canceled, but no definitive reason was announced by any of the schools involved. Carrabec High School announced Friday that it would be going to remote learning this week.

Mt. Blue is scheduled to host Greely/Falmouth on Saturday in Week 3.
