Ceola M. (Potts) Meyrick
LEWISTON – Ceola M. (Potts) Meyrick, 92, of Lewiston joined her beloved husband Earl in Heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, after a brief stay at Androscoggin Hospice House. She was born in Burlington, N.J. on Nov. 4, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Cliver) Potts.
She had lived in Lewiston since 2014, having previously lived in New Mexico after retirement in 1991 and many other states where Earl’s active military service took them in their early married years. She often noted that she had traveled through or lived in every state except Rhode Island, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Ceola was a dancer and acrobat starting in her early youth, and it remained one of her strongest memories through the years. She had several jobs as a bookkeeper throughout her life and retired as one from a family dental office in Washington. She was an avid volunteer and docent with her husband Earl while they lived in Albuquerque. For 20 years they devoted countless hours at the Albuquerque Zoo and Botanical Garden, the National Atomic Museum, and as trail guides for the National Forest Service on the top of Sandia Crest.
She liked to sew, having learned from her mother at an early age. Ceola also loved to read books and garden. She was a devout Catholic and instilled a lasting belief in God for all of her children through weekly attendance at Mass and CCD. She fully supported Earl in his role as a Deacon for over 40 years. Ceola was a strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always kind and in a good mood.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Earl J. Meyrick in 2014 after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Aaron Meyrick and his wife Debbie of Rio Rancho, N.M., three daughters Franseen Lamarca and her husband Rafael of Marysville, Wash., Lisa Sylvester and her husband John of San Antonio, Texas, and Sara Deshaies and her husband Scott of Lewiston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers George and Jack, and her sister Betty.
The family would like to extend its appreciation to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and The Hospice House for their kindness and compassion during Ceola’s brief stay.
Funeral services honoring Ceola’s life will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. At her request there will not be any visitation.
Arrangements by the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston 784-4023. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at http://www.lynchbrothers.com .
