HERMON — The Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale football team earned a convincing 48-18 road win over John Bapst on Saturday at Hermon High School.
The Ramblers scored all 48 of their points in the first half then turned the game over to their backups.
Logan Baird scored three first-quarter touchdowns — runs of 4, 54 and 6 yards — to boost Winthrop to a 20-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Andrew Foster scored on a 4-yard run and Robbie Feeney on a 7-yard run that pushed the Ramblers’ lead to 34-0.
Foster then tossed a 13-yard touchdown to Ethan Neal, and later a 15-yard TD pass to Evan Jones. In between those two scoring strikes, Edoardo Fiore returned a fumble 62 yards for John Bapst’s first touchdown.
Logan Baird scored three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to help Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale to a 20-0 lead heading into the second.
In the fourth, the Crusaders scored on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Kimball to Logun McMahon, and a 59-yard touchdown run by Fiore.
Dominic Trott had an interception in the first quarter for Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale.
THORNTON 40, LEWISTON 0: Jack Emerson threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter, and Hayden Whitney rushed for 101 yards and three TDs as the Golden Trojans (3-0) rolled past the Blue Devils (0-3) in Saco.
Thornton led 27-0 after one quarter and 40-0 by halftime.
Isaiah Jones (18 yards) and Anthony Jones (20 yards) were on the receiving end of Emerson’s TD passes as the Trojans jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead. Whitney raced 64 yards for his first touchdown, then added a 10-yard scoring run.
An 8-yard run by Alex St. John and a 3-yard run by Whitney rounded out the scoring.
FIELD HOCKEY
LEWISTON 2, MESSALONSKEE 1: Lexi Freeman scored both goals in the Blue Devils’ (4-2) overtime victory over the Eagles (5-2) in Oakland.
After a 0-0 score at the half, Freeman scored in the second half with an assist from Ceci Miller. Francesca Caccamo scored Messalonskee’s only goal in the second half, as well.
In overtime, Freeman won it for Lewiston off a pass from Kelsey Westleigh. Lewiston’s goalie Kimberly McLaughlin saved eight shots. Messalonskee’s Skye Sadler made five saves.
BANGOR 4, EDWARD LITTLE 3, OT: Anika Noack scored the game-winning goal with 5:45 remaining in overtime to give the Rams a lead over the Red Eddies in Bangor.
Edward Little got on the scoreboard first when Amanda Raymond scored on an assist from Leah Thibodeau. In the second quarter, Bangor’s Sadie D’Alesso tied the game and a Rylee Junkins scored to give the Rams a 2-1 edge.
Bangor went up 3-1 lead on Noack’s first goal of the game, but Edward Little answered with goals from Charlotte Levasseur and, with 2:39 remaining in regulation, Julia Bilodeau to force overtime.
Lydia Lynch saved five shots for the Rams, while Edward Little goalie Kasey Smith saved 14.
DIRIGO 6, BOOTHBAY/WISCASSET 0: Emily Woods scored the first two goals, then added two more in the fourth quarter as the Cougars (4-1-1) beat the Seahawks (1-3) in Dixfield.
Grace Robbins and Jayce Brophy also scored.
Dirigo’s Kiera Kelley saved one shot and Alivia Ellis did not record a save. Boothbay’s Joelyn Crocker made 14 saves.
LEAVITT 9, LINCOLN 0: The Hornets (4-1) scored early and often and shut out the Eagles (1-3-1) in Newcastle.
Emma Beedy opened the scoring with a goal that gave Leavitt a 1-0 lead with 10:57 left in the first quarter. Beedy scored another goal in the third. Eve Martineau scored her first of two goals on the day right after Beedy’s opener. That goal was followed by one from Ava Gagnon.
Maddie Morin added two goals in the fourth, and Ally Langlois and Keriah Marston contributed a goal each.
Leavitt’s Bella Westman made two saves in net. Lincoln Academy’s Addie Brinkler saved eight shots.
OXFORD HILLS 1, BRUNSWICK 0: Miah Gallon scored 5:23 into overtime to give the Vikings (6-1) a victory over the Dragons (3-2-1) in Paris.
Gallon’s goal was set up by Sierra Carson. Goalie Gabby Wright made six saves for Oxford Hills, while Brunswick’s Ahavah Burch stopped five shots.
BOYS SOCCER
YARMOUTH 5, POLAND 0: Steve Fulton scored twice to pace the Clippers (6-0) past the Knights (0-6) in Yarmouth.
The Clippers also got a goal apiece from Will Caruso, Sawyer Flowerdew and Aidan Kamm.
Trevor Robbins made 18 saves for Poland.
