The Maine Mariners announced Monday that they will play a preseason game at The Colisee in Lewiston on Friday, Oct. 15 against the Worcester Railers.
The matchup is part of a home and home series with the Railers, who will host the Mariners in Worcester the following night, according to a Mariners press release.
The two teams will then open the regular season the following weekend with another home and home series, with the Mariners hosting Friday, Oct. 22 at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland before the Railers play host Saturday, Oct. 23.
The preseason game at The Colisee will be the Mariners’ first as the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins, as well as the debut for new head coach Ben Guite, who was a former University of Maine star and assistant coach. It will also mark the return of pro hockey to the arena, which hosted the Portland Pirates during the 2013-14 American Hockey League season.
According to the press release, admission to the preseason game will be $2 — cash only — and doors will open for admittance at 6 p.m. The Mariners will have limited merchandise for sale and an informational table with ticketing options for the regular season.
