100 Years Ago: 1921

Earlier in the week a small section of the brick sidewalk near the Lewiston end of the bridge settled leaving a dangerous hole where the loose bricks had been. A warning red light was placed there, however now the bricks on the Auburn end are in practically the same conditions. One of the proprietors of an adjacent store remarked “It’s time we had new sidewalks anyway.”

50 Years Ago: 1971

A memorial plaque donated by the family of the late Herbert F. Ireland was presented to Minot Fire Chief David Walker Tuesday night by Dana Ireland. Although not a member of the West Minot Fire Company, Ireland actively supported the various activities of the department and often worked with the muster team. The plaque was presented at a meeting of the muster team.

25 Years Ago: 1996

A bike-a-thon to benefit St. Jude’s Cancer Research Hospital will take place on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., with a rain date of Oct. 12. Ponemah Rebekah Lodge No. 28 of Canton is  sponsoring the fund-raiser.
