Richard (Dick) Provencher
MEXICO – A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you after you pass on.With his wife and daughters at his side, early morning October 1st, Richard (Dick) Provencher became a Legacy. In his 79 years, Dick had many stories to tell. Although some seemed unbelievable, according to him they were all True. Dick was a devoted family man and true friend who could always be counted on.He was born October 23rd, 1942 in Mexico, Maine raised in a home with 7 siblings Joy, Anthony, Ronnie, Dennis, Margo, Terry, Greg and his parents Roland & Pauline (Hallett) Provencher. Who have all passed on.After being Educated in the Mexico School System his hard working early years began as a lumberman continuing on as a Construction Crane Operator and ending with Hancock Lumber Company.His hard work continued after his retirement by repairing small engine items.On August 7th, 1965, he Married Jane (Mitchell) in Dixfield where they continued to live and raise their two daughters Heidi & Heather. He was always surrounded by girls including granddaughter Kailtyn and Great Granddaughter Lily Jane. Even his faithful dog Mitzi was a girl. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them.In his younger years as “the Flying Frenchman” he raced snowmobiles. Played for the Dixfield Dixies baseball team, softball, and was a very involved dad with his girls.He was an avid hunter and fisherman participating in several Moose hunts throughout the years and a well-known Camp Cook, specializing in Breakfast. He was a SAL member at the American Legion in Dixfield.On Sundays his time was spent routing for Dale Earnhardt, cheering on the NY Giants or Watching his Favorite 27 Times World Series Champion Yankees Baseball Team. Dick could most times be found in his Garage. It was a source for all things when you couldn’t find it anywhere else. If he didn’t have it-You didn’t need it! Very seldom was he ever alone in there. Weekday afternoon “meetings” were held with special assigned seating and overseen by moderator Jim Desjardins who often started the debates.. Dick was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend & one of kind person who can never be replaced and will live on forever in our hearts and minds by the stories we tell of him. Continuing to share his stories are his wife of 56 years, Jane; his children, Heidi Provencher and Joel Krochune, Heather and Chris Bryant; granddaughter, Kailtyn Micks and great-granddaughter, Lily Jane.A day to Honor his life, Share Stories and Recount Favorite Memorieswill be held At the American Legion In Rumford Sunday, October 10th 2021 1:00pmArrangements are under the care and direction of Thibault Remembrance Center 450 Penobscot St. Rumford.
