OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Charlie Houghton threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores to lead Dirigo’s second-half rally in a 34-32 eight-man football victory Saturday.

The Cougars (4-2) trailed the Seagulls 32-8 at halftime. Houghton connected with Trenton Hutchinson for a 40-yard touchdown pass to start the rally. Houghton added a 40-yard run in the third quarter to cut Dirigo’s deficit to 32-22.

In the fourth quarter, a 94-yard touchdown run by Curtis Errington put the Cougars within one score, 32-28, and then Houghton’s 1-yard touchdown run gave them the lead.

Hutchinson made an interception at the goal line to seal the win. He also had a 60-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter after the Seagulls (4-2) raced out to a 18-0 lead on 8- and 9-yard TD runs by Jacob Payea and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Aiden Hubert to Riley Provencher.

Payea tossed two touchdowns passes to Provencher in the second quarter to add to Old Orchard Beach’s lead.

In other area football games Saturday, Oxford Hills defeated Massabesic 77-0 and Gray-New Gloucester fell to Cheverus 48-0.

VOLLEYBALL
CONY 3, LEWISTON 0: Theresa Shaw was a perfect 11 for 11 serving in the Blue Devils’ (1-11) straight-set loss to the Rams (2-5) in Lewiston.

Cony won the sets 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

Shaw was also 10 for 10 hitting and had nine digs, one ace and one kill. Sage Cormier added four kills, two digs and once ace while going a perfect 18 for 18 hitting. Maddie Oliveira pitched in with six assists and two aces.
