Osmond C. Verrill

POLAND – Osmond C. Verrill, 89, of Poland passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Mechanic Falls on Sept. 8, 1932 the son of Osmond S. Verrill and Mildred Strout Verrill.

He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Lothrop, on Nov. 2, 1952. He served in the U. S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954. He worked at Bailey Brothers for many years. In his younger days he worked for Stearns, H. E. McCann, L. F. Martin and Jordan’s as a food salesman.

Osmond was Past Master of Tyrian Lodge #73 AF & AM in Mechanic Falls, Past Most Wise Master of Rose Croix Scottish Rites in Auburn, Past Worthy Patron of Dwinal Chapter #28 OES.

He was an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling and ATV’ing. He especially enjoyed many times with family and friends at camp in Stoneham. He loved his garden, canning and freezing the vegetables that he grew. He was a Scout Master and Little League baseball coach.

He is survived by his wife Ruth of Poland; sons Steven and wife Susanne and Thomas and wife Lorrie, daughter Susan Jordan; grandchildren Jacob Verrill and significant other Chrissy Lenahan, Lacy Verrill-Rechisky and husband Ben, Kimberly Verrill, Jessica Verrill-Bosse and husband Jeff and Amy Jordan-Matthews and husband Brad; great-grandchildren Lucas Verrill, Riley Verrill, Gavin Lenahan, Gabby Lenahan, Chloe Bosse, Sophie Bosse and Wyatt Rechisky.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Poland to include a Masonic service by Tyrian Lodge #73 AF & AM and military honors.
