Wallace Pearl Fish

TURNER – Wallace Pearl Fish, 85, born to Agnes (Pearl) and Harry Fish on November 25, 1935, passed away at home with his family by his side on Thursday, October 14, 2021, after a brief illness. Wallace, better known by family and friends as Wally, was born, brought up, and lived his life in a community he loved, Turner, Maine. He was a graduate of Leavitt Institute. Shortly after graduation he joined the Naval Reserve. Post high school he attended Maine Vocational Institute in South Portland, where he received a degree in Automotive Technology. After graduation he began his first job at Ripley and Fletcher, after a brief time he left and went to Advanced Auto Sales where he was the used car service manager. After working there for eight years he decided to try his hand at teaching Automotive at Central Maine Technical College. During his tenure at the college, he graduated Summa Cum Lada from the University of Maine Gorham in Technical Education. One of his most proud achievement while at the college was getting the AES Certification for the Automotive Program, one of the first few in the nation. In addition, he worked closely with the Ford Corporation to get all the current technology given to the college for the students to learn on. Wally was most proud of his family. He and his beautiful wife Eleanor Howe, better known as Ellie, were married for 64 years. We would often say she was “the wind beneath his wings.” The two of them traveled around the countryside as he loved to drive his camper. He was very proud of his daughter Debra Ouellette and her husband Roger, and his son Dennis and his wife Arlene. He was even prouder of his grandchildren, Michelle Welch and her husband Butch, Michael Paul Mayo and his wife Felicia, and Mindy Nelson and her husband AJ. Last, but not least, were his great grandchildren who kept him smiling, Beau, Kira, Jayna, Grady, Tyler, Hailey, Blake, and Trevin. He was truly blessed and lucky and he would tell anyone who would listen all about it. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finleyfuneralhome.com
