John F. Hartnett

LEWISTON – John F. Hartnett, 85, formerly of Greene, passed away on Oct. 18, 2021, at the Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston. He was born in Portland on Dec. 20, 1935, the son of Joseph and Ruth Mahar Hartnett.He was a graduate of Edward Little High School, class of ‘56. He delivered newspapers as a child, served several years in the National Guard, and was a hard worker at the Hill Mill and Bates Mill for 33 years.In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, Joseph E. Harnett Jr.He is survived by his sister, Catherine Dionne of Greene. His sister would like to thank the staff at Marshwood for being so caring to John, they are truly angels. While in the nursing home John always asked about his friends and neighbors, Ed and Candy Greenwood, and Dwight and Carol Harris.A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
