Question 1: Do you believe students should be required to wear a mask in school to prevent the spread of COVID-19 under current pandemic conditions?
While I voted to support both the Superintendent and the Health Committee’s direction, I do not believe local governments should have been put in a position as to whether masks should or should not be mandated in schools.
Question 2: Do you feel that issues of equity and race are being appropriately addressed in Auburn schools?
While steps have been made, Auburn is not unique in this area. There will always need to be continued progress and work in this as well as many other focus areas.
Question 3: What are two specific issues you would address as a School Committee representative?
Focus will need to be on supporting the Superintendent in achieving her goals around student achievement such as increasing graduation rates, increased test scores, proficiencies in math and literacy with new and future programs, etc.
Focus will need to be on supporting the Superintendent’s financial needs through a budget that supports the needs of the school(s) but also is fiscally responsible for the members of the Auburn community.
