To the Editor:
The power line Hydro Quebec, (CMP), wants to put through Maine is all about getting the most money they can! I’m sure Canada could use the “surplus” power, but not as profitable for HQ as selling it to Massachusetts.
Secondly, the “green energy” is not nearly as green as Solar or Wind. The thousands of flooded acres give off methane plus the loss of carbon storage in trees and other plant life. About 30 years ago CMP wanted to put a similar line through western Maine including Andover, where I live.
“No Thank you Hydro Quebec” was formed by folks in the area. At that time CMP gave up on the line. Let’s put an end to Foreign Companies telling us what is best for Maine.
Vote “yes” on question one.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
