100 Years Ago: 1921

A masquerade party and dance will be given by Clan Campbell the evening of Oct. 29 at Odd Fellows Hall, Lisbon Street. The clan always observes Halloween in this manner and the usual good time is anticipated.

50 Years Ago: 1971

Cadette Troop of the Court Street Baptist Church held a Halloween Party Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Barbara Bennett, Center Street, Auburn, one of the leaders. Mrs. Annie Ray, Mrs. Lucille Ray and Mrs. Bennet were the leaders who were present. Mrs. Janice Rand acted as supervisor. The Bennett yard was decorated in the Halloween motif by Patrol 2. A cookout was enjoyed where each girl brought her own hot dog or hamburger and candy and drinks were provided. Nancy Thurston, a troop member, was honored on her birthday at the cookout with a birthday cake in the shape of a pumpkin made by Mrs. Daniel Gatz, who is the mother of one of the troop members. All the girls  got together to buy her a gift.

25 Years Ago: 1996

Peggy Turner was presented with the Community Service Award for 1996 by Darla Sanford and Marlene Gile. The award is given by Western Maine Community Action of East Wilton. The group also recognized Gile for being named as a top 10 employee.
