100 Years Ago: 1921

Lewiston Post of the American Legion met Wednesday evening with 94 members present. Lora Musick, the young woman who is directing the production of the Legion musical comedy, “All Aboard,” addressed the meeting. She spoke very highly of those taking part in the forthcoming entertainment. The principals, she stated, were among the best that she had worked with which means a great deal, for in the few years that Miss Musick has been directing she has handled hundreds of amateur actors and actresses. The work on the entertainment itself, she stated, could not be progressing better, but she advised an added activity in advertising and publicity.

50 Years Ago: 1971

It’s no longer Veterans Day on the calendar, this November 11, but not all agree with the legislative designation of another day on which veterans ought to be honored, and today someone placed a wreath at the base of the monument in Kennedy Park, Lewiston. On this day back in 1918, the “big war” before the bigger war came to an end at 11 am.

25 Years Ago: 1996

The Auburn Exchange Club will meet Tuesday noon at Rolandeau’s restaurant. Cecile Wheeler, chairman of the Christmas Giving Project, will review the program. Last Tuesday Stacey Croft, student at Edward Little High School, and Robin Sheib, Lewiston High School student, were present for the Youth of the Year program.
