Ruth R. Friberg

OXFORD – Ruth R. Friberg, 92, of Oxford died peacefully, surrounded by family at home on her farm on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021.
She was born in Malden, Mass., on Feb. 3, 1929, the daughter of John Henry Carlson and Bessie Rose Robertson Carlson. She attended school in Malden, Mass., and later went to hairdressing school. She married Wilfred A. Friberg on May 20, 1950. She gave birth to nine children.
In 1975, she with her husband and family, moved to Oxford, Maine, where they started a farm. She loved raising sheep and other farm animals. She had many hobbies but her love was oil painting. She completed many beautiful oil paintings and sketches. She loved to travel to different communities throughout Maine to display her art. A few of her favorite places were the Art in the Part event in Farmington and the Oxford, Norway, and South Paris Art shows. Ruth was a longtime and devoted member of the Oxford Congregational Church and was beloved by all the members of the congregation.
She is survived by her three sons; John of Norway, Cliff of Searsmont, and Williams of Eliot; five daughters, Wendy Friberg of Norway, Christine Diffin of Gray, Ruth Rodney of Oxford, Amy Tracy of Farmington, and Alisa Wiley of Oxford; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Lee Friberg in 2002 and by her husband, Wilfred Arnold Friberg in 2009.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 21 at 1 p.m., at the Oxford Congregational Church, 252 King Street, Oxford, with interment to follow at the Webber Brook Cemetery in Oxford. Following the Committal service at the cemetery there will be a gathering for family, close friends and neighbors and Ruth’s house in Oxford.
