HEBRON —  A man looking for his dog became trapped in a marsh after falling through thin ice on Saturday afternoon.

The Hebron resident was walking in an area off Paris Road, according to authorities, when he ventured into a marshy section on his property that was frozen over, said Paris Fire Department Deputy Chief Brad Frost.

The dog, a St. Bernard, was eventually reunited with its owner, but not before the man fell through the ice into the muddy water, where he became trapped almost a half-mile from his home.

Hebron Fire Department responded and both Paris and Norway fire departments provided mutual aid.  The man was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital and treated for hypothermia.

No additional information was available.
