Liane C. Charest
LEWISTON- Liane C. Charest, 81, of Auburn, died following a brief illness on Dec., 1, 2021. Born Liane Perron on August 2, 1940, to Blanche and Arthur Perron, she married the love of her life, Gerard Charest on October 1, 1966 in Lewiston. They lived in Lewiston or Auburn their entire marriage, expanding their family with daughters Donna and Melissa.
Liane’s early professional life was as one of the area’s last shoe-shop workers before later retiring from Jones and Vining in 2005 to enjoy spending time with her family, pets and appreciating life. She loved spending her days listening to music and watching her favorite shows, but the chance to babysit her grandchildren is what made her retirement years her best.
A devout Catholic, Liane was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish. Her cherished early years at St. Peter’s School served as the spiritual foundation of her life.
Nobody loved their family more, or had a better sense of humor, than Liane. Family members were regularly told how much everybody loved her kindness and zest for life.
She was so pleased when her daughters married and began giving her grandchildren. She had special relationships with Sarah, Katrielle, Jacob and Kaden, lighting up whenever they were around. Liane loved having family over for the holidays, especially the Fourth of July, when the family would watch fireworks from her back deck.
Liane is survived by and will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Gerard of Auburn; daughters Donna Clark (and husband, Mark) and Melissa (and husband, Joshua); one brother, Claude Perron; four grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Clark and Katrielle Lambert and Kaden Shea; numerous nieces and nephews; and many in-laws.
She was predeceased by her parents, and six brothers and one sister.
The family would like to thank the ICU nursing staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for their devoted care, especially Dr. Peter Bagley. Her fondness for the staff never waned and it meant so much you treated our family member as if she was one of your own.
A Funeral Mass honoring Liane’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul (Lower Church). A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston 784-4023.
