RICHMOND — Kiara Briand scored nine points and Richmond kept St. Dominic Academy scoreless in the second quarter on its way to a 32-25 Class C South girls basketball victory Thursday.

Izzy Stewart added eight points for a balanced Bobcats (7-2) offense.

Jessie Zimmerman scored the game-high 12 points for the Saints (2-5), who scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to try and close the gap. Charli Apodaca scored four of her six in the fourth and Ava Apodaca scored all of her four points in the final period.

BOYS BASKETBALL
ST. DOMINIC 53, RICHMOND 34: Taylor Varney’s 15-point performance helped steer the Saints (6-1) past the Bobcats (3-6) in Richmond.

St. Dom’s Gabe Carey scored 13 points and Noah Cyr contributed his 10 points.

Max Viselli dropped in the team-high nine points for Richmond.

MT. ABRAM 83, WISCASSET 14: Adam Luce scored 21 points to lead the Roadrunners to an MVC win over the Wolverines in Strong.

Wyatt Siemenski scored 15 points, while Kaden Pillsbury added 12 points for Mt. Abram (3-5).

Jevar Garricks scored five points for Wiscasset (0-8).

DIRIGO 58, CARRABEC 57: Charlie Houghton dropped in 43 points to lead the Cougars in North Anson.

The 43 points were a Cougars program regular-season record. Houghton also pulled down 14 rebounds. Trent Holman added six points for Dirigo (8-2).

Luke Carey led Carrabec (7-3) with 18 points, while Daniel Handley scored 16 points. Connor Peabody added 10 points for the Cobras.

WINTHROP 64, MADISON 43: Andrew Foster scored 15 points to lead the Winthrop boys basketball team to a 64-43 win over Madison in a Mountain Valley Conference game Thursday in Madison.

Braiden Bramigan scored 13 points, while Tyler Shumway added eight points for the Ramblers (5-0).

Callan Franzose led the Bulldogs (4-5) with 19 points.

BOOTHBAY 52, TELSTAR 46: The Seahawks slipped away with a victory over the Rebels (0-8) in Bethel.

Connor Wenners scored 12 points and Jordan Carrier added eight for Boothbay.

For Telstar, Bradley Stevens lit up the scoreboard, scoring the game-high 22 points and teammate Tristan Pelletier helped out with nine points.
