Victor A. Szabo

AUBURN – Victor A. Szabo, of Greene, passed peacefully in his sleep Jan. 8, 2022, after a long battle with diabetes, at the young age of 65 years old.

He is survived by his only son, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Eric Szabo of New Bedford, Mass.; his granddaughter, Mayberry Pearl Brosnahan-Szabo (Lily May Aston); his childhood and lifelong best friend, Emmett; his two sisters; his loving parents Catherine Gertrude Von-Langen and, his predeceased father, Joseph Alexander Szabo and his ex-wife; along with his many nieces and nephews, all whom he loved very much.

Vic is remembered for his love of fishing, beer, and love for America. Vic was a kind man who loved Rock and Roll especially when it came to songs being about life and reflection. Vic graduated from Avon High School in Avon, Ohio in 1974 and then went off to Ohio State University where he then graduated as a proud Buckeye in the fall of 1978. He went on to live life happily, he wishes to remind everyone the following:

“I had fun in life and now I must go, do not become comfortably numb to the world, for if you shall ever miss me, just play Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd and I will come to comfort you and remind you that even though I may be gone but in your hearts and minds I shall always live, remember one must be willing to learn to fly before they can fly like an eagle”.

The Szabo family would like for all friends and family members to take a moment and to remember the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and all that they do and to please make a charitable donation to Operation Stand Down, a Veteran’s outreach program that has helped thousands of Veterans in not just Rhode Island but many other locations as well.
