LEWISTON — The police investigation into a downtown shooting Saturday night that left one man seriously wounded continued Monday.

The man has not been identified.

Police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said Monday that no arrests have been made. He said the man and the shooter were acquainted but there were no details on how they knew each other.

Police received multiple reports of gunshots in the area of Pierce and Walnut streets about 8 p.m. Saturday and found a man who had been shot at least twice. Though officials have not elaborated on the extent of his injuries, early reports suggest he had been shot in the back and in one arm.

He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he has remained in stable condition, St. Laurent said Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tom Murphy at 513-3001.
