Officials in Lewiston, Auburn and Lisbon announced that city halls and other public buildings and programs will be closed Friday, citing the winter storm forecast throughout the day.

“With the winter weather that is headed our way, we feel it is safest to keep our staff safe at home and off the roads,” Auburn City Manager Phil Crowell said in a written statement. “We strongly encourage the public to do the same, if possible.”

In addition to Auburn Hall, the Auburn Senior Community Center, Auburn Recreation, Ingersoll Turf Facility, and the Auburn Public Library will all be closed Friday.

In Lewiston, the public library, the Lewiston Memorial Armory, and the Lewiston Solid Waste Facility will also be closed.

In Lisbon, the Town Office, Transfer Station, Sewer Department, Recreation Department and library will be closed. Officials said regular office hours would resume Saturday.

Lewiston and Auburn implemented winter parking bans from 10 p.m. Thursday through 10 p.m. Friday. In Auburn, the Downtown Parking District is exempt from the ban from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In Lisbon, a parking ban was set from midnight Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday.
