After relatively quiet weather early Monday, the National Weather Service forecasts a messy afternoon and evening.

Mixed precipitation expected this afternoon. Light freezing rain on dry pavement is possible. Then snow will accumulate inland tonight into Tuesday morning, likely more wet and heavy than recent storms, according to the NWS. This may lead to power outages

Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of around a tenth of an inch are expected around Androscoggin County.

Auburn has issued a parking ban from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

In Franklin and southern Oxford counties, total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of around a tenth of an inch are expected. Northern Oxford County’s forecast has wet, heavy snow.

Mostly rain is forecast along Maine’s coast.
