DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there a qualified Apple computer technician in our area? I’m trying to save a trip to Portland. I need a general cleanup of my laptop.

You are my A.M. go-to every weekday. I lived in Florida for 20 years and missed your columns! — Carroll, Lewiston

ANSWER: In the Rolodex, I have Angela Carter in Greene. She may be able to come to you or help you remotely. For more information, visit her website at angelascms.com. You can email her at J.Angela.Carter@angelacms.com or give her a call at 520-9573.

I also have ACS—Action Computer Services (https://www.acs4u.com/). It is in Lewiston, provides remote service and has an email form on its website. You can call them at 786-8740.

There is also Josh at Nerd Barn at the Topsham Fair Mall (https://www.nerdbarn.tech/, josh@nerdbarn.tech, 992-NERD). He can also help you remotely.

Buck Buchanan at PCS—Professional Computer Services (http://pro-pc.us/,Buck@pro-pc.us, 784-6295) may also be able to help you in person or remotely.

FYI: When I talked to Buck, I learned something new. He also rents business phone systems. Who knew there was such a thing?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you please give me the names of sewing machine repair shops in the Lewiston-Auburn area? I enjoy your column. Thank you for the help you provide. — No name, Turner

ANSWER: In the Rolodex, I have Carolann’s Sewing Machine Repair in Minot (312-1424). Carolann’s is a family-owned sewing machine repair shop that handles all models. They are also an authorized Juki sales and repair center, and they sharpen scissors!

I also have Jim Morrison at Western Maine Machines at 43 Exchange St. in Rumford (jim@wmemachines.com, https://wmemachines.com/ , 507-1257.)

If that’s too far for you to go, you can drop your machine off at Paul’s Shoe Repair at 350 Lisbon St. in Lisbon. The number there is 514-6800.

Western Maine Machines is a full Brother dealer, along with Elna home sewing machines. Morrison can also get Juki, Consew, Highlead, Stitchline and several other industrial brands. He is the go-to person for all parts, needles and supplies. The company is recommended by Ron at Cote Bros. Sewing Machines of Turner, who retired recently.

Yet another option recommended by a Sun Spotter last year is the sewing machine repair and service available through Pins & Needles in Farmington. It’s also a great quilt and yarn shop and is at 157 Main St. You can contact them at 779-9060.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: While waiting in the drive-up line for my morning breakfast order, I was informed that the lady ahead of me had paid my bill. I would like her to know that that is the first time this has ever happened to me and I will surely pay the favor forward. Thank you so much. It made my breakfast so much more enjoyable. — Joseph, Auburn

ANSWER: It’s a great feeling to bestow an act of kindness with an element of surprise on another human. If you haven’t done this yet, no matter how small the gesture, try it. It will make someone else’s day and will certainly elevate your spirits.
