DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there any information regarding the Class of 1952’s 70th year reunion for Edward Little High School? I have asked and no one seems to know. I need to make my vacation plans around that event so any information would be appreciated. —  Theresa, no town

ANSWER: I’m sure you’re not the only one! OK, Sun Spots readers, do your thing. Someone must know something about this big event! A call to the high school administration may also be in order. Perhaps they could direct you to someone on the planning committee.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to give a huge shoutout to our rural carrier, Jacob
Martin. On Sunday morning after the big storm on Jan. 29, our paper arrived on time just like it was another beautiful day. It certainly must not have been an easy delivery morning. Job well done, Jacob! We appreciate you. — No name, no town

ANSWER: I’m certainly impressed!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What is a good solution for getting rid of mice? Do those high frequency sound products work?  Do any readers have ideas for what the best solution is? — No name, no town

ANSWER: I would not spend money on the product you mention. If you are seeing a number of mice, the very best thing you can do is call a pest control company. There are numerous experts who know how to deal with all kinds of varmints and it is not as costly as you may think. Not only will a reputable pest control company make those little guys go away, but they will find where they are getting into your home and put an end to that. Mice can cause a lot of damage to your belongings, spread germs and disease, and cause you to just go plain crazy.

Mice can squeeze themselves through the tiniest spaces (1/4 inch!) and typically like to sneak in where your water pipes come into the house or even under a door or window. You can help by ensuring these spaces are well-sealed.

Mice don’t like peppermint so put some essential oil around. Also, eliminate any food sources, such as bird feeders, which might be attracting them. Keep your kitchen spic and span and don’t leave any food, trash, or dirty dishes where they can get at it.

If you have a cat, entice him/her to earn his keep. A motivated mouser on the prowl is worth 10 times their weight in gold!

There are many types of snap traps (put that peanut butter or nibble of chocolate right on the trigger) and sticky traps are also available to eradicate these critters. Except for a Havahart trap, none of them are humane and it’s still up to you to deal with the expired animals.

And what are you going to do with a mouse once you’ve corralled it with a Havahart? Hmmm?

One of our devoted readers recently recommended Pest Shield in West Paris (https://pestshieldllc.com/, 513-6089) and she has been so satisfied with them that she has mentioned them several times.

I can personally vouch for Terminix (https://www.terminix.com/, 1-877-837-6464). I, too, am a satisfied customer.

Readers, send in information for companies and/or do-it-yourself techniques that you’d like to recommend.
