DEAR SUN SPOTS: It saddens my heart to inform Sun Spotters that Norm Blais, co-owner of Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, died suddenly just before Christmas. He said, “Don’t worry, Sun Spots will put out our need for help.” And as always, he was right. The day he died (Dec. 22, 2021) your gift of love for Tommy’s appeared in your column.

We talked many times how grateful we were to you and the Sun Journal for the kindness and compassion given to us by you. As Norm was in critical condition, he wanted to let you know that our passion and love for Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends will continue. He wanted me to make sure and express our heartfelt gratitude. Our passion and love is continuing for TFFF.Most of the finances for Tommy’s came from our personal income and the help of the community. Now I am working by myself through a major transition. I think Norm, aka, “Cat Man Norm,” would be thrilled and proud to see our love and passion continuing in helping to save the lives of feral cats. With the love of Tommy’s babies, Cat Man Norm and I share much love to all of you for the compassion given to Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends. Hopefully, we will be able to have another fundraiser one day. Thank you, Ms. Sun Spots. — Rose, co-owner of TFFF, Greene

ANSWER: I know I mention Tommy’s a lot in Sun Spots. I never met Norm but we emailed back and forth many times over the years and I was always just blown away by the sacrifices he and his partner, Rose, made to keep the shelter going.

Perhaps you donated bottles and cans to the organization, bought baked goods at the numerous fundraising events, or gave of your time and materials to see that the feral cats in the area received food, shelter, and medical attention that included neutering and spaying.

Rose has lost her partner and soulmate and has a big job ahead of her. If you can support this nonprofit by volunteering or by donating, you can go to the website at https://tommysferalfelinefriends.com/ or send a check to Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a woven bed cover that is possibly several hundred years old and is made of linen and wool. I would love to be connected to someone who can either authenticate or appraise it. I would consider putting it up for auction or donating it, provided it can be displayed and kept properly. Do you have the name of someone in your Rolodex who might be able to help? Thanks for all you do. I really enjoy your column. — No name, no town

ANSWER: You can contact Daniel Buck Soules at Daniel Buck Auctions in Lisbon  http://www.danielbuckauctions.com/, 407-1444.
