POLAND — The Select Board on Tuesday night voted to increase the 2023 fiscal year budget by $51,451 to cover the sharp increase in Central Maine Power’s standard offer electricity supply rates.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission in November 2021 set new rates for residential and business customers of Central Maine Power, effective Jan. 1.

In a memo to the board, Deputy Town Manager Nikki Pratt said the town saw its supply rates increase by 6 cents to 12 cents per kWh for all accounts, except the Fire Rescue department, which saw its rate increase from 8 cents to 22 cents per kWh.

In other business, the board approved 35 warrant articles that will go before voters Saturday, April 2. at the Poland Regional High School Auditorium. A quorum of 100 voters is required for a legal meeting.

The board also accepted the resignations of Raymond Cloutier and Jennifer Letourneau from the Community Economic and Development Committee.
