PARIS — Sierra Carson set up shop at the perimeter, deposited 27 points and landed five 3-pointers to direct the top-ranked Oxford Hills (17-2) to a 63-30 victory over No. 8 Deering (4-16) in a Class AA North girls basketball quarterfinal on Wednesday evening.

Oxford Hills will take on No. 4 Bangor (13-6) in the semifinals at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland

The Vikings’ Ella Pelletier scored 13 points and Molly Corbett helped out with 10.

For Deering, Maya Gayle scored seven points.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 56, KENNEBUNK 22: Alyssa Howard scored 14 points off the bench to lead the fifth-seeded Patriots (13-6) over the 12th-seeded Rams (0-16) in a Class A South prelim in Gray.

Caitlin Taylor added eight points and Amber Fortin had seven points for the Patriots.

Cassie Mackenzie led Kennebunk with six points.

YORK 56, POLAND 35: Ava Giacobba scored 16 points as the fifth-seeded Wildcats (10-5) advanced against the 12th-seeded Knights (4-14) in a Class B South prelim in York.

Clara Pavuk added 14 points, while Emily Rainforth finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals.

Gabbi Bolduc led Poland with 12 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL
DIRIGO 71, SACOPEE VALLEY 49: Trenton Hutchinson and Nathaniel Wainwright each scored 14 points as the third-ranked Cougars (14-5)) overpowered the 14th-seeded Hawks (4-14) in a Class C South prelim game in Dixfield.

Trent Holman and Charlie Houghton each contributed 12 points to Dirigo’s cause.

For the Hawks, Carson Black threw in the game-high 22 points and made good on four 3-pointers.

WINTHROP 57, BUCKFIELD 22: The top-ranked Ramblers (15-4) strong-armed the 16th-seeded Bucks (3-16) in a Class C South prelim matchup in Winthrop.

Winthrop takes on No. 8 Waynflete (9-9) at Augusta Civic Center on Monday at 8:30 p.m.

Logan Baird scored the game-high 17 points and Andrew Foster had 14 for Winthrop.

Buckfield’s Gavin Charest scored nine points.

MT. ABRAM 86, RICHMOND 32: Kaden Pillsbury scored 19 points to lead the No. 7 Roadrunners to a Class C South prelim win over the No. 10 Bobcats in Salem.

Cameron Grey and Payton Mitchell each added 18 points for Mt. Abram (12-7).

Connor Vachon led Richmond (8-8) with 16 points, while Hunter Mason added 10 points.

MONMOUTH 64, TRAIP ACADEMY 35: Hayden Fletcher scored 21 points, Manny Calder had 14 and Hunter Frost added 11 in the fifth-ranked Mustangs’ (11-4) win over the 12th-seeded Rangers (6-13) in a Class C South prelim game in Monmouth.

Monmouth set a new Class C tournament record with 49 free-throw attempts.

EDWARD LITTLE 42, WINDHAM 37: The No. 8 Eagles (4-16) mounted a fourth-quarter comeback but came up short, falling to the No. 1 Red Eddies (17-2) in a Class AA North quarterfinal in Auburn.

Edward Little will face Thursday’s winner of No. 4 Lewiston (13-5) and No. 5 Deering (8-10) next Thursday at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

Will Mannette hit five of his six 3-pointers in the second half to pull the Eagles within striking distance. He finished with 18 points.

Eli St. Laurent scored 19 points for Edward Little. John Shea was held to four points.

BOYS HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE 5, WINDHAM/WESTBROOK/BONNY EAGLE/SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Jack Keefe and Aiden Gonzalez each scored a pair of goals in the Red Eddies’ (14-1) victory over the Trail Blazers (5-10-1) in Auburn.

Andrew Clements was Edward Little’s set-up man with three assists. Keefe and Campbell Cassidy each scored a goal and an assist in the third period.

The Trail Blazers’ Aiden Hartwell scored an unassisted goal in the first period.

BOYS PREP HOCKEY
NYA 4, BERWICK 2: Former Lewiston standouts Michael Belleau and Cooper St. Hilaire scored first-period goals as the Panthers finished off a season sweep of the Bulldogs in Dover, New Hampshire.

Belleau opened the scoring for North Yarmouth Academy just over two minutes into the game, and St. Hilaire added his goal with less than two minutes left in the first period.

Both players scored on Nathanel Peretz’s power-play goal in the second period. Nolan Pecora also scored for NYA.

Aidan Farion made 20 saves for the Panthers, who outshot Berwick Academy 45-22.
