Peter T. Cipolloso
OXFORD – Peter T. Cipolloso, 74, of Oxford, lost his valiant, nearly five-year battle, with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on Feb. 8, 2022. Our world lost a good man. Born in Providence, R.I. on Oct. 13, 1947 to Mario and Marion Cipolloso, Peter grew up in Warwick, R.I. in a large, loving extended Italian family.Peter was an amazing man with an incredible intellect. His breadth of knowledge and attention to detail far surpassed the average human being. Peter was a humble, kind, compassionate, and caring man who loved with all his heart. He was always willing to help anyone at any time. He did not judge people by their actions nor did he ever feel he was superior to anyone. Brought up in the Catholic faith, he demonstrated that faith every day of his life. Peter was well loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved unconditionally. If he was your friend, he was your friend for life.Peter graduated from Our Lady of Providence Seminary and from Providence College. He did graduate work at Assumption College. He proudly served his country as a linguist and an intelligence officer. He was a decorated soldier, achieving the rank of major. After his 14 years in the military, he continued to serve his country as an intelligence analyst in several roles for the U.S. government. In 1995, Peter left a job he loved to move our family to Maine. He worked as a financial analyst after relocating and then as home Dad to his growing family. He ended his professional career as a language teacher at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.Peter met his wife, Deb Nichols, in November 1987. They were married in Lewiston on June 17, 1989. Peter was a wonderful husband and a proud Dad to his sons, Jonathan P. Cipolloso, 28, of Biddeford, and Matthew N. Cipolloso, 26, of Oxford. He loved his family with every fiber of his being. Peter loved nothing more than a good conversation. He could talk for hours! His family would often exclaim, “short version please”! He had a great appreciation for good food, especially Italian food. He loved to cook! In addition to his wife and sons, Peter is survived by many loving cousins; his brother-in-law, Duane Nichols and wife Janice; nieces Tammy Bailey (Tim) of Naples and Kim Trombley (Matt), nephew, Kevin Nichols (Leslie) of Oxford; several great-nieces and nephews, and godchildren, Roxanne Gustafson of Rhode Island, Jocelyn Sams of North Carolina, and Deanna Morency of Boston and; and special friend Jared Jobe and wife Lisa of Williamsburg, Va. He loved both his and Deb’s extended families.Peter was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws Duane and Mary Nichols; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.Visiting hours will be Friday, Feb. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., (Route 26), Oxford, ME 04270. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Norway on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. Face masks are recommended, but not required.
